International BrAIDathon and Hairstyling Show
- This event has passed.
Description
BrAIDS for AIDS celebrates 10 years raising awareness of HIV/AIDS and we are hosting our annual BrAIDathon and hairstyling show. Every year for the weekend before the Caribbean festival in Toronto, we host a full day of conversations, beauty, braiding and hair styling.
This year we are highlighting the impact of violence on the sexual health of the woman and we are raising funds for two young women* – one in Uganda and one in Jamaica.
What is a BrAIDathon?
The BrAIDathon is an event where people get hair done by hairdressers. Proceeds go to supporting the BrAIDS for AIDS Foundation and its programs across the GTA including a new entrepreneurship-focused hairdresser program for African, Caribbean and Black young women; our program with young men in the prison system; and our program focusing on combating violence against women and helping young women internationally.
